Jerry Bernard Gandara, 77 was born on August 5, 1947, to Richard Gandara & Margaret Rose Cabrera and entered into eternal rest on June 1, 2024, in Covina California.

Jerry was also known as JB, by many of his friends. He was a graduate of Garfield High School in 1965 and shortly after that Jerry proudly served his country in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam era and was also stationed in Thailand, Japan and other Asian locations. Jerry was a security policeman, Sentry dog handler, and K-9 instructor during his tour of duty. Jerry often spoke of his canine brother who he trained and loved and sadly he lost him in Vietnam.

After being discharged from the military Jerry worked for the City Of Los Angeles as a Truck Crane Operator/ Engineer for over 35 years and was a member of their union Local 12.

Jerry will always be remembered as a person with many great qualities, respectful, someone you can trust, loyal and loving to his family and friends and the projects he was involved in. Jerry never forgot where he came from and was always happy to lend a hand to help out and make someone's life a little better that is one of the reasons he was a proud member of the Boys Of Belvedere and served as their Vice President. One of their main goals is to fundraise and give scholarships to local high school students from Garfield, Roosevelt & Schurr to name a few. Another project close to Jerry's heart was being a member of Disabled American Veterans ( DAV) Chapter 22, who were in Alhambra and moved to their forever home in Montebello. Helping his brothers and sisters who also served their country was something he was very passionate about.
Jerry enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle and his guilty pleasure was watching Lucha Libre and NASCAR.

Above everything, Jerry was proud to be a father to his three children; son Jerry Gandara, daughters,
Ahyoka Guerra & Sandy Ortiz and was soon to be a grandfather. He also enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. Jerry will be dearly missed by everyone who was blessed to know him and those who loved him. Rest in peace our friend, thank you for your service and all your work. Job well done.
