Jesus G. Banuelos, 85, a.k.a. "Jess," "Jessie" and "Chuey," was born in Los Angeles, CA on September 13, 1928 and passed away at his home in Montebello, CA surrounded by his loving family on July 12, 2014. He was the youngest child born to Augustin and Francesca Banuelos.
Jesus grew up in the Boyle Heights area and attended schools there. He dropped out of high school to go to work at the Sears building in LA to help out his parents. He then decided to follow his 5 older brothers and enlisted in to the United States Army and proudly served his country from 1946-1949, during the Korean War. He attained the rank of Staff Sgt. After his Honorable Discharge from the Army, he came home to marry his girl, Dora Nazabal, who was waiting for him. They were married on February 19, 1950
Jesus was previously employed as a Glazer in the Construction industry for 30 years. Military Honors will be given to Mr. Banuelos during the Memorial Service. Jesus believed in hard work and that if you worked hard enough and saved your money, you could own your own home one day. That was always his dream he had for all of his children. He was very proud of the fact that he owned his own home.
Jesus is survived by his children, Joseph A. Banuelos of Montebello, Debra A. (Frank) Berumen of Diamond Bar, Jerald J. (Aleida) Banuelos of Montebello, George (Monica) Banuelos of Kingman, AZ and William M. Banuelos of Montebello. He also leaves his grandchildren, Frank M. "Frankie" Berumen, Marlyna M. (Eric) Wagreich and Melody Banuelos and 1 great grandson, Cyrus. He is the preceded in death by his 12 siblings.
