Jesus “Jesse” M. Moya Acuña, 81, was born on April 9, 1937 in Mexico to Jesus Moya and Maria De La Luz Acuna and entered into eternal rest on January 25, 2019 in San Gabriel, California.
Jesse was somewhat of a superhero. Just one that didn’t have full control of his powers. When talking to someone, he could make time stand still and have that person feel like they were the most important thing in the world. But even though he could stop time, he never really managed to be anywhere when he was supposed to be.
Another power Dad had was bending the truth. He was happy to do so for a better story, or to get out of trouble. He once told his doctor he didn’t drink. He was wearing a Heineken t-shirt at the time. And there were countless times when he told a semi-true story that made people laugh till it hurt. Ultimately, joy was more important than accuracy.
Dad could also create a party out of thin air. He was the bartender who would happily have a drink with you and the tortilla delivery person who never wanted you to eat a taco by yourself. And he was the dad who would let you stay up late and eat junk food until you got sick. He was the guy that everyone wanted to hang out with on Friday night.
But alas, on Friday January 25th, 2019, our superhero and the life of the party has passed. But like Prince said, “Life is just a party and parties weren’t meant to last.”
Jesse leaves behind his loving family: Wife, Patricia Moya, Son, Jesse Moya (Lucy), Son, David Moya (Leslie), Son, Jesse Moya (Eréndira), Daughter, Jennifer Moya, 6 loving grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, as well as several other family members and friends who loved him and will miss him dearly.
