Joann Irene Kurtz
September 20, 1944 — December 16, 2016
JoAnn Irene Kurtz was born on September 20, 1944, in Long Beach CA to Darwin and Glenda McMahon and was ushered into the kingdom of Heaven on December 16, 2016, in Lakewood CA, with her family by her side.
JoAnn worked in a variety of positions over her 35-year career with The County of Los Angeles DPSS, until her retirement in September 2009.
She loved Jesus and reflected His love through her giving heart. She also loved spending time with and spoiling her grandsons. She enjoyed researching family genealogy and was a proud and feisty Irishwoman. She was also actively involved in reunion and activity planning for Mayfair High School, class of 1962 alumni. She loved people and kept in touch with both old and new friends through various social media.
JoAnn will always hold a special place in the hearts of all the lives that she touched.
JoAnn is survived by her two children; daughter Christine (Michael) Young of Lakewood, son Cole "Rick" Kurtz of Lakewood, her three grandsons; Christopher Young of Lakewood, Caden Kurtz of Lakewood and Marcus (Marti) Young of Buena Park and three great grandchildren. She also leaves behind her brother Frank (Diane) McMahon of Lakewood and her niece Laurie (Gary) Knight of Aguana. JoAnn was greeted at Heaven's gate by her brother D. LeRoy McMahon who preceded her in death.
