Joanna Mae Luttrell, 90, was born in Huntsville, Arkansas on September 27, 1933, to Pastor Jerry Simpson and his wife Olga Mae Simpson, and entered into eternal rest on June 4, 2024, in Downey, California.

Joanna is survived by her loving family: Son, Mark Luttrell of Downey, Daughter, Kimberly Breitfuss of Temecula, Grandchildren, Great-grandchildren, and Great, great-grandchildren. Joanna will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Joanna was reunited at the Gates of Heaven with her Daughter, Jaye Lynn Coutee.

A personal note form Kimberly(Daughter):

Mom was a beautiful soul. She served the ministry as soon as she came to Christ. She was involved in many activities at her home church, Calvary Chapel of Downey when Pastor Jeff Johnson was the lead pastor. She was a pro-lifer who attended rallies and stood outside of abortion clinics, to give the girls another option. She once told me she hungered and thirsted for God’s word. She served and worked for the children’s ministries until she was 77. She was the epitome of “born again”. Her life was never the same after that.

She lived with my brother Mark, in Downey, California, for over 20 years.
She was my best friend (Kimberly). When I lost Scott, she was the one I’d talk to. I would tell her that I believe God saved her in her ripe old age to help me get through that, with her. It would’ve been almost unbearable without her to talk to almost daily. She was stubborn, spiritually aware, and a voracious reader of scripture and other books, arising some mornings to read at 3:30 AM to get in her reading time with the Lord. She was so committed to God and His son Jesus.

She will be sorely missed. She said to me the day before her passing, as I sat by her bedside, at the hospital “ It’s ok if I go now, don’t you think? I looked at her & said, looking into her blue eyes, “Yes Mom, it’s okay. Go get your reward”. She shook her head yes. Within hours she went home. Before that, she fought hard to live, taking walks and exercising to strengthen herself. She truly lived her life, wanting to please God. That was always her main focus for over 50 years. She is already missed. The world lost a beautiful soul. It will never be the same without her. Thank you and God Bless you all.
