John Michael Velasco, 67, was born May 11, 1955, in California to Arthur Angel Velasco and Lucy Huerta, and entered into eternal rest May 20, 2022, in Monterey Park, California.
John M. Velasco, long term resident of Santa Fe Springs, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, May 20th at the age of 67. John is survived by his sister Angeleen Velasco, his brother Robert Huerta, as well his nieces, nephews, and cousins that he loved dearly. John, born May 11, 1955, graduated from Santa Fe High School and earned his bachelor’s degree from Pepperdine University in 1980. John was very caring and gracious, having a passion to dedicate his life to community service through Heart of Compassion, an organization that gives back to the community in need. John was also VP of the Board of Trustees for over 14 years. He enjoyed adventure and travel. In true John fashion, he dedicated his travel to mission trips in Africa as well as volunteering his time to develop orphanages in Mexico. John will be dearly missed but the family finds joy in knowing he is reunited with his mother, father, and brothers in Heaven.
