Jose Diaz Guardado, 62, was born in Zacatecas, Mexico on February 14, 1952 and passed away in Montebello, Ca. on April 4, 2014. Jose was a factory worker in the shipping industry for 12 years.
Jose migrated to the United States from Mexico for the first time at the age of 20. He found work as a tile setter for many years after his arrival to the states. In 1976, he met the love of his life, Christina. They married in 1980 and bore a boy, Jose Jr., in 1983. They settled in El Sereno, California for the remainder of their lives. They enjoyed hosting parties, travelling, barbeques, and dancing. Jose was the go-to handy-man, never declining a request. He could make everything out of nothing. No task was too big nor too small. He also would give the shirt of his back and then some. He enjoyed the garage as much as the kitchen! He loved Christina's cooking. He frequented most swap meets and flea markets around the city. His favorite color was red and his favorite musical band was Los Tigres de Norte. His favorite past-time was swimming, the rodeo and the casino! He is now reunited alongside his wife, Christina. They finally meet again, as shall we.
A Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 10, 2014 from 5:00-9:00 PM in the Risher Montebello Mortuary Chapel, with a Vigil service at 7:00 PM. A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, April 11, 2014 at 9:00 AM at St. Benedict Church. Interment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery.
Jose is survived by his son, Jose Guardado, Jr. of Pico Rivera, his siblings: Chuy Guardado, Maria Guardado, Reynalda Guardado, Rigo Guardado, Miguel Guardado, Clara Guardado, Nolo Guardado and Quino Guardado, all of Mexico. He also leaves many nieces and nephews. Jose is predeceased by his wife Christina.
