To Our Father
José Antonio López
Our father had an unyielding zest for life and all that encompassed it.
His love for us, his two daughters was always without a doubt and unquestionable. He was always there for us on a moments notice, day or night.
Our dad’s curiosity of the world around him and his thirst for knowledge made him a voracious reader. The books in his bookshelves number in the hundreds and he’s read every one, from the poetry of Pablo Neruda, to the conquest of the Aztecs, to the great artists of the world. He just loved to share his knowledge to anyone that would listen. To watch our dad engage in conversation was to witness a man with such enthusiasm and excitement for the world, and the subjects that he passionately loved to learn about, those being his art and his proud Mexican heritage and culture. Our father was an exceptional artist and historian.
In a way, that is what made our dad that one unique and special person in our life and to those he impacted with his wisdom and wit that he met along the way, never to forget this exciting and effervescent man who loved to dream big, remembering this man as we do, who is our dad.
He was, Sargent 1st Class José Antonio López, who served his country with distinction and honor in the United States Army. His tour of duty took our dad to Fort Ord, California and to Wiesbaden, Germany where he was Honorably Discharged.
Our dad is the strongest man we know. Our strength, his strength runs through our veins and it will give us continuing love to move forward in our lives. We carry you proudly in our being, dad.
Visit us in our dreams. You are with us for as long as we live. We love you.
Love you forever, dad.
