Kevin Mark Hamilton, 64, was born June 25, 1958 in Los Angeles County to Thomas Earl Hamilton and Raffaela Ann Sallese and entered into eternal rest on July 30, 2022 in Playa Del Rey.
Kevin grew up in the city of Norwalk and as a young man excelled at quarterback for his football teams. During Kevin’s senior year at Santa Fe High school, he was named captain of the football team and earned first team all-league honors. Kevin played football at Cerritos College before becoming a police cadet for the Fullerton Police Department in 1978. Over the course of his thirty-four-year law enforcement career, Kevin worked a variety of assignments including narcotics, motors, detectives, and eventually promoted through the ranks of Sergeant, Lieutenant, and Captain. In 2012, Kevin retired as the Acting Police Chief of the Fullerton Police Department. Following retirement, Kevin could be found spending ample time in his garage if he was not on the golf course or fishing with his friends or brother in the Eastern Sierras. Kevin loved his garage sign which read, “I live in the garage, but I sleep in the house.” Widely known by his many neighbors as the unofficial “Mayor of Playa Del Rey,” Kevin’s garage sign embodied his post-retirement lifestyle.
Kevin is survived by his loving family: Wife, Mary Hamilton of Playa Del Rey, Daughters, Camaron Leigh Thompson (Ryan) of Santa Clarita, Brittany Layne Giamberdino of Torrance, Grandchildren, Tyler Thompson of Santa Clarita, Logan Thompson of Santa Clarita, Hayden Giamberdino of Torrance, Mackenzee Giamberdino of Torrance, Teegan Lockhart of Torrance, Tinsley Herschel of Ventura, Jaxson Thompson of Santa Clarita, Sister, Deborah Burks (Alan) of Prescott, Arizona, Brother, Thomas Hamilton (Marie) of Sun City, Four Nephews and 1 Niece, along with other family and friends who will miss him dearly.
