Laura Anita Odom, 89, was born in Arkansas on February 22, 1925 and entered into eternal rest in Santa Ana, California on November 29, 2014.

Laura Anita Johnson spent her childhood in rural Arkansas on her family’s farm in Biggars, Arkansas (Pop. 300). As a child she lived through the depression years and learned to get by with very little. Just a few miles away was Reyno, Arkansas (also Pop. 300) and Anita attended the Biggars-Reyno school that taught K-12. Also attending this school was a young man Cloyce Odom from Reyno that Anita fell in love with and they eventually married.

Anita completed Cosmetology School and Cloyce joined the Marine Corp. Soon Anita’s family grew to 4 with the births of daughter, Kathy and son, Kevin. They moved to Orange County, California being stationed at El Toro Marine Base and finally settled in Anaheim. Anita started her career as a Hairdresser and opened a Beauty Salon in Anaheim where she worked for over 20 years and eventually sold this business. As the grown kids started their own families and her marriage ended Anita moved to Laguna Hills and started a second career working as an electronic technician. Eventually Anita ‘retired’ and moved to a mobile home park in Fullerton where she worked preparing and serving meals for seniors in the parks’ clubhouse kitchen program. Throughout her life Anita maintained a strong commitment and faith in God that carried her through all of lifes’ ups and downs. She was able to live on her own through age 89 and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Laura was survived by her children Kathy Cox of Irvine, Kevin (Melinda) Odom of Brea and her grandchildren Joshua (Nicki) Odom of Texas, Emily (Andrew) Olear of Orange, John Cox IV of Irvine, Heather (Daniel) Weber of Texas, Sara Cox of Irvine, Rebecca Cox of Irvine, Vanessa Wiles of Brea and Jessica Wiles of Brea. She also leaves behind 10 great grandchildren and her neice Cleta Lackey of Missouri and nephew Frank Snodgrass of Texas.
