Lillian Hammock was born to the union of Robert and Geneve Waugh in Memphis, Tennessee, on February 2, 1926. She was the seventh of eight children in the Waugh family. After her mother passed, Lillian and her siblings moved to Benton, Mississippi, where she attended Lane Avenue School.

Lillian met and married Roscoe McLemore in Rome, Mississippi. To this union in 1945 was born a son, Vernon McLemore. Lillian and her son moved to Los Angeles, California where she later met and married Algia A. Hammock. To this marriage was born a daughter, Bernadine Hammock Buchanan.

Algia and Lillian owned and operated maintenance and flooring business; she also worked thirty years for McDonnell/Douglas and retired. She attended West Washington Community Church, where she received Christ as Lord and Savior, and was a Genesis Member of Crenshaw Christian Center. Lillian's favorite pastime was fishing. She also thoroughly enjoyed traveling and cooking; preparing food for people who often dropped by, just to eat.

On May 6, 2008 Lillian peacefully and quietly went to be with the Lord. She was preceded in death by her son Vernon McLemore and husband Algia A. Hammock. She will be greatly missed by her daughter Bernadine Buchanan and her husband Winford, grandsons Andre and Danon Buchanan, his wife Stephanie and their sons Tyler and Justin, Lillian's great-grandsons; her sister Mildred Tolbert, her sons Leonard and Chris, as well as a host of other relatives; Sylvia Hagler, Henry Hagler, Tanisha and family, Edward Reagan, and Chris Woods, cousins and friends.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Monday, May 12, 2008 at Inglewood Mortuary, 1206 Centinela Ave., Inglewood, Ca. 90302. Funeral Serives will be on Tuesday, May 13, 2008 at 10:00am at Crenshaw Christian Center, 7901 S. Vermont Ave., Los Angeles, CA 90044, with interment following at Forest Lawn Hollywood Hills.
