Linda Joann O'Connell
December 10, 1954 — February 26, 2021
Linda Joann O'Connell was born December 10th, 1954 to Richard and Elinore Corse. She went home to be with the Lord on February 26th, 2021. Linda was a longtime resident of Downey, known for her hospitality, kindness, and love that she showed by helping others.
She attended Alameda Elementary, South Junior High, and graduated from Downey High school in 1972. Linda received her Dental Assisting Degree while attending Cerritos College Linda worked for the Disneyland Resort in the hotels with various responsibilities from 1972- 1975. She also worked for Dr. Brady a few years before having her first child, Ryan Patrick in 1981. Kevin David arrived in 1984 then Kathleen Joy in 1987. Her involvement in her children’s lives is where she met so many people who became close friends like family. Whether Boy and Girl Scouts, church events, sports parks, and PTA meetings, you would always find “loyal Linda!”
Linda returned to work at Tilley Apothecaries in 2002 managing many areas including being the delivery lady for the pharmacies. Linda retired recently in 2019 spending her time doing things she loved: scrapbooking, crafts, and cooking for family gatherings. Linda enjoyed the beach life and bright colors. When her late brother Rick pranked her with a lawn full of kitschy pink flamingo decorations, Linda embraced the flamingo kitsch as a personal style. She was a longtime member of First Baptist Church of Downey, now Legacy Church. Linda is survived by her three children, Ryan, Kevin, and Katie, their spouses, Karen, Deysi, and Angel, and three grandchildren, Penelope, Seamus, and Jack, along with her loving cousin Jeanne Martin.
She will be missed by many. Forever in our hearts.
