Alice Lillian “Lorraine” Cuzzort, a dedicated wife and mother, passed away early Monday morning, June 27th, at USC Verdugo Hills Hospital. She is survived by her three daughters: Deborah “Debbie” (John) Smyser, Carol High and Kathleen “Kathy” (Greg) Presley, five grandchildren: Jennifer (Justus) White, Scott (Amber) Smyser, Justin High, Ryan Presley and Kimberly (Rick) Binder, and six great-grandchildren: Isaac High, Tyler White, Melanie High, Mia White, Hunter High and Autumn Binder.

Born 1930 in Detroit, Michigan, Lorraine was the oldest of four children born to English immigrant, George Beswick, and his wife Cynthia. Lorraine lived a very modest life and understood the struggles of being raised during the depression.

Lorraine met her husband Bill in Detroit after she demanded he take her on a date, in order to avoid the blind date she was already set to have that evening. Bill was able to tame her previous wild ways of motorcycles, leather jackets and short shorts. The two were married and shortly after began their family in Michigan before moving to Southern California.

Lorraine had an extremely giving heart, which was evident in her dedication to her family. Waking every morning at 4:30 a.m. to make her husband breakfast before she began her day with her daughters. She had often had an open door policy with her daughter’s and their friends, feeding them and entertaining them. This loving spirit continued on when her grandchildren arrived. Lorraine was often found behind the camera capturing the memories of her grandchildren in the pool.

One life changing moment in Lorraine’s life was the night she attended a Revival and “walked the saw dust trail,” as she put it, to dedicate her life to God. This walk did not come without ups and downs, and she had the privilege of an amazing mentor Dorothy “Dolly” Trapp to walk her through these times. Although Lorraine will be greatly missed, it is in this relationship with Christ that her family takes assurance of rejoining her one day in Heaven.

A viewing service will be held Friday, July 1st, 9:00-9:30 a.m. at Risher Mortuary. This will be followed by a graveside service at Rose Hills at 10:30 a.m.
