Louis Olvera Mendoza, 93, was born in Bakersfield, CA. on May 1, 1921 and passed away in Whittier, CA. on May 16, 2014. He served as a Merchant Marine in the United States Coast Guard for 38 years. Mr. Mendoza proudly served his country, was given an Honorable Discharge and will be given Military Honors at the cemetery.

A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, May 23, 2014 at 10:00 am at St. Benedict Church, followed by interment at Calvary Cemetery.

Mr. Mendoza is survived by his sisters, Anita Mendoza Reyes of Montebello and Rosemary Clarity of Huntington Beach, and his niece who took care of him for years, Liz Mendoza of Montebello. He also leaves many other nieces and nephews.
