Lynn Evans Hammond Jr., 80, was born on May 12, 1939 in Van Nuys, California to Lynn Evans Hammond Sr. and Virigina Helane Hammond, and entered into eternal rest on January 30, 2020 in Torrance, California.
Lynn served in the United States Marine Corps and was honorably discharged for his honorable and faithful service to our great nation. Lynn also dedicated over 25 years working as a computer programmer for the aviation industry.
Everyone knew Lynn by his nickname Lee or Lee the pest. He loved camping, bike riding, fishing and boating with family and friends, especially with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Lee was always on the go and loved working with his hands. He became an avid wood carver, making walking sticks and canes.
Lee was devoted to his family and church, and he made special attempts to make others feel happy. Lee loved being an instigator and a practical joker because he was full of life. He had a special love for the younger generation and for children and always did whatever he could to make them feel special. Lee was truly loved by everyone who met him, and he is dearly missed.
HE ONLY TAKES THE BEST
God saw that he was getting tired,
A cure was not to be.
So He put His arms around him
And whispered, “Come with Me.”
With tearful eyes we watched him suffer,
And saw him fade away.
Although we loved him dearly,
We could not make him stay.
A golden heart stopped beating,
Hard working hands to rest.
God broke our hearts to prove to us
He only takes “the best.”
