Manuel WIlliam Salcido, 66, was born in East Los Angeles, CA on July 12, 1947 to Ourelia Garcia Salcido and Manuel Salcido. He passed away in El Monte, CA on May 26, 2014, surrounded by his loving family. He was the eldest of 9 children.

He was a loving husband, father and grandfather who put his family first. Manuel and Susan were married November 16, 1968 in East Los Angeles at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church. They were married and inseparable for 46 years. One year after marriage Manuel was drafted into the U.S. Army where he served as a supply truck driver in the Vietnam War. Manuel returned to Susan 1 year later after an injury while on duty. Four years after their marriage they had their first child. (Manuel Jr.)

Manuel accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior prior to his passing. He had a deep personal love for the Lord and attended Lords Grace of Downey with his family and friends for several years. He was introduced to Christianity in 2006.

Manuel enjoyed playing pool with friends and his children. He spent many seasons coaching children's sports such as basketball, football, and baseball. He was a mentor to the children he coached as well as his own children. Always attending his children's sporting events, cheering them on and encouraging them to never quit , play hard and primarily to have fun.

Manuel worked hard to provide for his family and often put his needs aside to help people in need. On various occasions opening his home to others and making them feel part of the family. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, June 7, 2014 at 11:00 am at Lords Grace of Downey Church, 7360 Foster Bridge Bl., Downey, CA. Interment will be held on Friday, June 20, 2014 at 10:45 am at Riverside National Cemetery.

Manuel is survived by his wife Susan Salcido, 5 children, and 10 grandchildren. His children are Manuel W. Salcido Jr.(Buena Park, CA), Jennifer Salcido (El Monte, CA), Rita Kerkhoff (Alta Dena, CA), Michael Salcido (El Monte, CA), and Angel Chavarria (Rosemead, CA).
