Mara Cristina Tolar was born on December 22, 1948 in Armenia, Sonsonate, El Salvador to Rosa Catalina Sandoval and Antonio Ezequiel Figueroa.
She came to Los Angeles, California in 1967 where she would meet her husband James Arnold Tolar, they would marry on July 2, 1970. Mara and James would raise three beautiful children, Sylvia Christina Tolar Flores, Jaime Arnold Tolar and Mildred Catalina Tolar Lafferty.
Mara was hard working, determined and headstrong going into the restaurant business, beginning as a waitress to running a food truck with her husband James Arnold and opening their own restaurants.
She enjoyed going to the movies with her family followed by dinners at Clifton’s Cafeteria. On Easter Sunday she enjoyed the blossoming roses in the gardens at Exposition Park, taking wonderful and memorable family photographs. She loved listening to Leo Dan, 50’s oldies and Blondie as well as watching her novelas every evening.
Mara was very tenacious yet tender, very protective of her family, everything she did came from her heart. She will always be missed.
On May 28, 2020 Mara Cristina departed this life joining her husband James. Her three children, 10 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren and a large extended family survive her.
