Maria Elva Lopez, 84, was born July 5, 1939, in Sinaloa, Mexico to Gonzalo Lopez and Adolfina Castro, and entered eternal rest on April 5, 2024, in Pomona, California.
Maria loved sharing food with family and friends, particularly traditional Mexican cuisine. With a passion for cooking that ignited her entrepreneurial spirit, Maria ventured into the tamale business over 50 years ago, laying the foundation for a legacy that would leave an indelible mark on her community.
Maria is survived by her loving family: Daughters, Julissa Leyva of Rancho Cucamonga, Luz Maria Leyva(Jose Lopez) of Sinaloa, Mexico, and Adolfina Leyva(Pierre Cararo) of Paris, France, Son, Jose Javier Leyva(Ofelia) of Elmira, Grandchildren, Maria Elva Leyva(Edgar O. Ramos) of Monterey Park, Jose Alejandro Lopez(Cedma) of Monterey Park, Alan Jose Lopez(Daniela) of Monterey Park, Lizbeth Leyva of Monterey Park, Maria Jose Lopez(Christian) of Monterey Park, and Xavier Leyva(Autumn) of Elmira, Great Grandchildren, Armando S. Quezada(Alyssa) of Ranco Cucamonga, Bryan Leyva of Elmira, Jorge Luis Leyva of Monterey Park, Cristina Julissa of Rancho Cucamonga, Emilie Paulina Journel of Paris, France and Ines Andrea of Paris, France, Sisters, Lilia Gastelum(Eliseo) of Dixon and Rosa Amelia Lopez of Mexico, Brother, Gonzalo Lopez(Carmen) of Mexico and numerous nieces and nephews. Maria will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Maria was reunited at the gates of Heaven by her Sons, Sigifredo Leyva and Jorge Luis Leyva, Sister, Hilda Loria, and Brother, Sigifredo Lopez.
