Marina Escandon

Marina Escandon was born on December 13, 1933 in Colombia to Alfredo and Carmen Martinez and entered into eternal rest on December 19, 2016 in Bellflower, California. She was 83 years old.
She grew up attending Catholic schools and always remained faithful to the Catholic Church. Her faith was a source of strength throughout the trials of her life.
Marina immigrated to the United States in the early 1960’s from Colombia to New York City where she started her professional career. She was employed by various organizations working as an accountant’s clerk and bookkeeper until her retirement from TELACU in the late 1990’s.
Though a dedicated professional, Marina was first and foremost a loving wife and mother. Her happiest moments were time with children and grandchildren during Thanksgiving, Christmas and other holidays. She loved preparing meals for family and was a fantastic cook. Her favorite pastimes were shopping, eating out, and watching sports. She put tremendous importance on the value of education. One of her greatest sources of pride was helping her three children graduate from college.
Marina is survived by her loving husband of 53 years Sergio Escandon of Downey, California and her three children: daughter Monica (Jim) Kinkade of Syracuse, Utah; son, Yuri (Tara) Escandon of Downey, California; and son David (Betsy) Escandon of San Jose, California. She also leaves behind nine grandchildren.
