Mary Alcala, affectionately known as "Pee Wee," was born on August 15, 1943, in San Antonio, Texas. After a fulfilling life dedicated to her family and community, she passed away peacefully on April 8, 2025, in Monterey Park.
For over eight years, Mary made a significant impact as a Teacher's Aid, nurturing and guiding young minds with her patience and kindness. Her dedication to education was a testament to her love for learning and her commitment to making a difference in the lives of others.
Music and dancing were among her greatest joys, reflecting her vibrant spirit and zest for life. She found delight in sharing her love of art and entertainment through YouTube videos, often gathering with family and friends to create cherished memories. Her social nature allowed her to effortlessly connect with those around her, and she cherished the time spent with her loved ones, especially while raising her grandchildren.
Mary is survived by her daughters, Christena Smith and Jasmine Pacheco, and her son, Mario Alcala. She is also remembered fondly by her numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who carry forward her legacy of love and kindness.
She was preceded in death by her sons, Albert Alcala and Ernie Alcala, who she held in her heart throughout her life. As we celebrate the life of Mary Alcala, we remember a woman whose laughter, love, and spirit continue to inspire all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
