Michael Jerome Coleman was born September 6, 1941. He was the sixth and youngest child born to Maurice and Cecilia Coleman.

As a young man, he began his lifelong devotion to his faith with a short term in a Catholic Brotherhood. After his time serving the Lord, Mike served his country by joining the Navy. While in the Naval Forces he was deployed to the Philippines and his duties included tracking the weather in the Pacific.

He first met Mary, his future wife, at a Catholic Youth Organization dance at a church in South Gate. Mike and Mary wed May 11, 1968 in Artesia, at Holy Family Catholic Church. Soon after, they began building a family and raised nine children together: Michael, Mark, Annie, Jack, Lori, Johnny, Mary (aka 'Bitta'), Katie and Joey. Having a such a large and successful family was his pride and joy.

Mike pursued his career at the United States Postal Service as a mail carrier. He remained an employee at the post office for nearly thirty years until he retired. After retirement, Mike expended a great deal of his time and energy into Catholicism, exploring various prophesies, and securing a place in heaven for his soul.

Mike was a very simple man. He never asked for much from others. He enjoyed time at home engaging his mind in numbers and horse-racing formulas. He looked forward to going to the race track with his brothers, Chuck and Sonny. Deeply faithful to his religion, Mike also attended mass every week and encouraged all of his children to do the same.

In his younger years, Mike was involved in helping his children prosper in athletic activities, such as soccer and baseball, and was always eager to hear the outcome and details of all of the kids' games. In his leisure time, he enjoyed collecting and watching movies, especially Science Fiction films. But most of all, Mike looked forward to spending time on the holidays with all of his children and family.

Michael was a husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and brother. He is survived by his loving wife of 39 years, Mary, his 9 children and 7 grandchildren.

He passed away on September 30th of 2007 at his home of 35 years. He will be deeply missed, and will remain forever in our hearts and memories.

The Rosary will begin at 10:00 am on October 5, 2007, followed by the Memorial Mass at 10:30 am, both services will be held at Beatitudes Of Our Lord Catholic Church, 13013 S. Santa Gertrudes Ave., La Mirada, California. Interment will be private.
