Mildred Louise (West) Voth, 89, was born in Hicksville, Ohio to Ross and Maggie (Sumner) West and entered in to eternal rest on Monday, June 13, 2016 in Downey, California. She graduated from Hicksville High School and attended St. Paul Bible College (now Crown College) in St. Paul, Minn., where she met her husband and life-long companion, Rev. Vernon Paul Voth. They were married August 6, 1949 and devoted their entire married life to children and youth ministry, missions and general church ministry. Together they pastored Christian and Missionary Alliance churches in Fortine, Mont., Verndale, Minn., Tyler, Minn., Glendive, Mont., and Belgrade, Mont. Upon retirement they became members of Grace Bible Church, in Bozeman, Mont., and were actively involved in many areas of the church ministry and outreach. After the death of her husband, she moved from the Gallatin Valley to live in Billings, Mont. near her son, and then to Downey, Calif. to live with her daughter.
Mildred loved people of all ages, and constantly looked for ways to reach out and serve others. She loved to sew and crochet, and enjoyed photography. She had a knack for making a house a home, and for showing hospitality to anyone needing a place to stay, or a home-cooked meal. She dearly loved her family, but always had open arms to “adopt” anyone who needed a mother’s love in their lives. She loved to laugh and sing and play the organ and piano, especially her favorite hymns.
She was preceded in death by her husband Vernon, her parents, Ross and Maggie West, her brother Archer West, sister Nova James, and granddaughter, Pauline Voth.
She is survived by two daughters, Joyce (Mike) Peraaho of Nashwauk, Minn., Donna Voth of Downey, Calif., one son, David (Laura) Voth of Billings, Mont.; six grandchildren, Terry (Clara) Welsh, Timothy Welsh, Charity (Ryan) Michaelson, Brooke (Pete) Grandpre, David Ross (Kylie) Voth, and Justin Nelson; ten great-grandchildren and one great, great-grandson; sister Dorothy West of St. Paul, Minn.; sister-in-law Florence (Richard) Keller of Baxer, Minn.; numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, friends and extended family.
The family wishes to give special thanks to the Aller family, especially Cindy, who opened her home and arms to help care for our mom in the last three years of her life; our beloved Lupe Cox, Estella Ramirez, Sofia Beivides, and the amazing staff and nurses from Premium Hospice who made it possible for us to provide a loving and caring environment for our mom as she prepared to enter the presence of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Services will be held on Saturday, June 18, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at Grace Bible Church, Bozeman, Montana with interment following in the Bozeman Sunset Hills Cemetery.
