Natividad (known as Naty to friends and family)Tuazon Lumanlan, 80, entered her life on June 10, 1932 in San Juan Metro Manila, Philippines and passed peacefully from Earth to her Heavenly home on May 14, 2013.
Her loving words to her loving husband, Mariano, on Sunday, May 12th, Mother's Day and their 51st Wedding Anniversary before she was rushed to the ER were, "Call all the children now". She truly voiced to her husband what she came to accomplish with him. Without any doubt, Naty loves her family. She is survived by her loving husband, Mariano Tadeo (Ted) Lumanlan of Montebello, her daughters, Helen (Mike) Stephens of Spanish Fork, Utah, Regina Lumanlan (Edward) Segawa of Fullerton, Arleen (Melecio) Dollentas of Diamond Bar, Alice (Kevin) Chee of Mira Loma, Liza (Darrin) Domingo of San Pedro, and her son, Roy Lumanlan of Montebello. She also leaves nine grandchildren, Michael, Alyssa, Christina and Lauren Dollentas, Leeza and Maria Stephens, Dylan and Ryan Domingo, and Steven Segawa; and her brother, Prudencio (Grace) Tuazon Jr. and her niece, Rita Tuazon, all of Jacksonville, Florida.
Naty was born in San Juan Metro Manila Hospital and achieved her BA in Nursing at Manila Central University. She shared her nursing education and giving heart, from 1955 to 2000, as a Registered Nurse. She started at Mount Sinai Hospital in NY, while studying for her Master's degree in Nursing. Two years to her Master's program, she was then called by her family to return to the Philippines and tend to her sick mother. She then worked at Philippine National Railway Hospital in the Philippines, where Ted and Naty met; Cook County Hospital in Chicago, IL; Beverly Hospital in Montebello, CA, from 1979-1988; and Los Angeles Community Hospital in Los Angeles, CA, from 1988-2000, and retired in 2000.
In 1968, Naty, a risk taker, moved from Caloocan City, Pampanga, Manila with Ted and their three eldest children to Chicago, where they lived in an apartment and worked hard to save enough money to care for their immediate family. They eventually purchased two single family homes at Superior and Huron Street in Chicago, IL, where they had a very happy life raising all six children before moving to California.
Naty and Ted dedicated their life to giving their children the best upbringing by enrolling them in Catholic schools and being good examples for them. Going to church and praying constantly were important and instilled in their children. Naty, a very hard worker, worked grave yard shifts as a Registered Nurse so she can tend to her children during the day by driving them to school, preparing their meals, assisting them with their homework, cleaning the house, and doing the family laundry.
Naty's hobbies included shopping, baking, and singing. Her favorite songs to sing with her beautiful opera voice were: O Holy Night, Ave Maria, Because, and Muc ya Ng Pasing.
Naty was very active with the Catholic Community. She was an active member of several church choirs and the Legion of Mary. She gave generously to the community, Catholic churches and Archdioceses without any pause.
If you had any opportunity to experience the life of her voice and her presence, I am sure those moments and memories will never be forgotten. She is a very powerful charismatic woman who had a very gentle quiet spirit and brought out the goodness to those she interacted with. She never had to say anything to you to make you understand what was on her mind. Her look was always of happiness and goodness. She always had a calmness and gave her children and others only the best and never asked for anything in return.
