Nickoli 'Nick' Bassi, formerly of Huron St. and West 36th St. in Erie, PA died suddenly on November 26, 2010 in Los Angeles, CA. Nick was born in Albion, PA on December 13, 1928. He graduated from Strong Vincent HS and went on to serve in the US Army from 1950 to 1952. Upon his return from the military, he was employed by Cook's Market and Loblaws Grocery. He was also employed part-time at the Nuova Aurora Society before he retired and relocated to LA. Nick was truly a friend to everyone and his sense of humor was evident in everything he did. Never was a bad word said toward Nick who enjoyed his retirement years in the sun. When he fell ill in the beginning of November, he was cared for by his loving nephew Leroy Mentley of Los Angeles right up to the time of his death.
Nick was preceded in death by his wife, Susan Carlucci Bassi, and his sisters Sarah, Marie, Julia, & Carmella. He is survived by two sons, Nicholas Bassi of Flower Mound, TX and David Bassi of Cleveland, OH, and one sister Velma of Yucca Valley, CA. Nick also had three grandchildren Dominic Bassi of Cleveland, OH, Christopher Bassi of Flower Mound, TX, and Kelly Bassi Dowling of Coppell, TX.
He is also survived by several nieces (April Hill of Los Angeles, CA, and Mary Beth Carlucci Pfister, Patty Carlucci Territo, Nancy Carlucci of Erie, PA) and nephews (Jeff Carlucci, Jim Carlucci, Joe Carlucci, John Carlucci, Bill Carlucci, and Paul Carlucci, all of Erie, PA.).
Nick was interred at the Riverside National Veterans Cemetery in California on Wed., December 15, 2010 at 9:30am.
