Nohemi "Mimi" Gonzalez was born on October 19, 1992 in Sylmar, Ca. and passed away tragically on November 13, 2015 in Paris, France. She was 23 years old.
Nohemi was a student at California State University Long Beach where she was a Senior in Industrial Design, and was studying abroad at the time of the tragic incident. CSULB will be awarding her mother her Bachelor's Degree. Nohemi was a graduate of Whittier High School in 2010 and was an avid runner in their Track & Field program.
The following was written by Tim Mraz, Nohemi's Significant Other:
"I don't even know where to start. There is no one else like Nohemi. I instantly fell in love with her when I met her 4 years ago. She was passionate about her studies and industry. She was the hardest working person I knew and would spend all night in the CSULB design shop working on projects as well as helping her classmates with their projects. She would drop what she was doing in a heart beat to help out someone else. She and I enjoyed building projects together such as furniture. She was very creative and innovative in her field. Design was her passion. She had such a bubbly personality and was always joking around. She had kid like qualities but not childish by any means. She understood the value of each day and lived it how she wanted. She was strong and didn't let anyone tell her how to live. Nohemi loved to work out and we would go running together when we could. We would go on vacation to Arizona and spend time on the lake together." -Tim Mraz
Nohemi is survived by her loving mother Beatriz Gonzalez (Jose Hernandez) of El Monte, CA, her brothers, Reynaldo Gonzalez Jr. and Paul Gonzalez, both of Mexico, and her grandmother, Raquel Rodriguez of Mexico. She also leaves her aunt Raquel (Ruperto) Villanueva of Mexico, her uncles, Santiago (Sofia) Villanueva of Mexico & Carlos (Teresa) Villanueva of Mexico, her cousin Fabiola (Felipe) Maciel and their children, Madeline & Lizeth, all of El Monte and cousin Jaqueline Padilla of Los Angeles.
