Oscar Teodomiro Borja was born to Teodomiro and Herminia Borja on October 6, 1934 in Escondido, California and entered into eternal rest on September 8, 2015 in Whittier, California. He was 80 years old.
Oscar graduated from Escondido High school in 1953. He enlisted in the United States Air Force and was stationed in Nagoya/Komaki Headquarters 5th Air Force Base for 5 years (1953 - 1958). He met his wife, Tomiko Yano and married in 1957 in Japan and returned to the U.S. In 1958.
Oscar worked as a salesman for 40 years in the industrial tool and supply business starting out at Anaconda Wire and Cable Company, then to Chicago Pneumatics and finally retiring from Gardena Hardware and Industrial Supply Company.
He was a former Cub Scout 317 Troop leader of South San Gabriel, a Boy Scout Troop 317 past Chairman (3 sons awarded Eagle Scout Awards), a member and past President of the Eastside Optimist Club and member and host family of the Montebello Ashiya Sister City program
Oscar loved old movies and loved 50's music. He loved to dance and sing karaoke in Japan. He also loved to talk and share stories with people that he knew and who he had just met. He loved traveling as he visited Vietnam, Singapore, Malaysia, Costa Rica, Guanajuato, Mexico, toured Eastern and Western Europe but he loved going back to Gifu, Japan twice a year, for it was his second home. Oscar appreciated everything about the Japanese culture.
A memorial service at a shrine in Gifu, Japan will be held, that is being hosted by his Japanese friends and family.
The funeral mass will be held at St. Benedict church in Montebello where his children were baptized and confirmed.
Oscar is survived by his loving wife Tomiko Y. Borja of Montebello, California, his son Rene D. (Margie) Borja of Montebello, California, his son Mark A. (Akemi) of Gifu, Japan, his son Patrick M. (Jane) Borja of Corona, California, and his daughter Jacqueline (James Larivey & Miguel Arellano) Borja of San Gabriel, California. He also leaves behind 7 grandchildren, his sister Gloria Arangua of La Puente, California, his brother Teddy (Lucianne) Borja of Carlsbad, Califorinia and his nephews and nieces Michael Arangua, Anthony Arangua, Teddy Borja and Andrea Borja, Yoshiko Tsuda, Keiko Kunishima, Katsumi Kato and Yoko Okuyama.
