Joel Edward Abel, 67, was born on December 14, 1950 in Columbia, Pennsylvania to Neil Abel and Shilrey Barnes and entered into eternal rest on December 19, 2017 in Whittier, California.
With a loving a caring heart dedicated to his Lord and Savior, Joel served as a Pastor for over 20 years, touching the lives of everyone he came into contact with. Joel was also a veteran of the United States Army, earning an honorable discharge for his years bravely fighting for our freedom. Joel was known for his sense of humor and huge personality. He was known as a "social butterfly" by those who loved him. Everywhere he went, he would talk to anyone who would talk to him. He enjoyed the beach, snorkeling, and swimming most of all. Even towards the end of his days, he was in the gym pool swimming his laps. His smile, love, laughter, and faith will be missed by all those who knew and loved him. Joel's memory will live on in the hearts of his family and friends.
