Patricia A. Clapper passed away on March 20, 2021, peacefully in her sleep while resting in her favorite chair. She was born in the farming town of Ste. Genevieve, MO on September 12, 1931. She is the 3rd of 8 children to Henry and Olive Linderer. She made her way to California and settled in South Gate with her first husband FA Biggs and had 3 children. Tragically Patricia was widowed at the age of 32, and later remarried Anthony (Tony) Clapper (also widowed) who had 4 children of his own. We then became “The Clapper Bunch”.

Patricia enjoyed gardening, spending time with friends and family and attending church every Sunday as a member of the Women’s Guild of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church. Patricia worked in the travel industry for a stint, where she and Tony would enjoy traveling and going on cruises themselves. Patricia was civic minded; she was a member of Downey’s Women’s Club and supported various children’s charities. She loved spending time in the kitchen cooking and chatting while making delicious food for family and friends. Desserts were awesome, Texas Sheet Cake, the best.

She was the second Mom to all our friends while growing up, putting up with all our crazy antics. There were no strangers in her house, all were welcome. Tony preceded Patricia in Aug 2001 and Patricia remained in the Downey home for the remainder of her life. Although Patricia had a few set-backs, elective knee surgery in recent years, she still persevered without complaining. She chocked it up to “just getting old”. Her smile was never-ending and contagious. She will be missed by so many.

Patricia is survived by her children; Anthony (Linda), Marjorie, Shauna, Christine, Lonnie, Thomas (Cindy), John (Mindy), and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren, her sister Margie and Bud. She was preceded in death by sisters Betty, Mary, Jackie, Susie and brother Charlie.
