Patricia Jean Hare
March 1, 1953 — July 4, 2017
Patricia Jean Hare (Patti) was born in Long Beach, CA, on March 1, 1953, and passed away in Downey, CA, on July 4, 2017, after two years of complications from diabetes.
After graduating from Eagle Rock High School in 1970, Patti attended Valley College in North Hollywood. She worked in the insurance industry for a number of years, then transitioned to entertainment when she joined Warner Brothers Home Video as an Order Management Representative. Patti formed close connections with her colleagues and customers and truly loved her job. She received recognition as an outstanding representative and was beloved by her co-workers.
Her happy place was Big Bear Lake where she spent many weeks vacationing at the family cabin. She loved the wildlife and kept them well fed. Everyone laughed at her stories about putting peanuts on her lap so the chipmunks would run up her leg and grab them.
Over the years, Patti adopted many cats and they were her constant companions. She loved experimenting with new recipes and drinking champagne (sometimes together!). An expert at crochet and needlepoint, Patti created many beautiful blankets, scarfs and keepsakes for herself, family and friends. Besides her handiwork, she was an avid shopper. Amazon is going to miss her, too!
Patti lived her entire life in her childhood home in Eagle Rock, CA. She was the daughter of the late Henry Harold Hare and Ruth Dunham Hare. She is preceded in death by her sister, Barbara Brown (Don), and leaves behind two brothers, William Howard Hare (Katie) and Richard Dunham Hare (Patty), 9 nieces and nephews, 20 great-nieces and nephews as well as a large extended family and many wonderful, life-long friends. To her family and close friends, she will always be remembered as “Patti the Great.”
A Celebration of Patti’s Life will take place at 11:00 am on July 15, 2017, at The Bridge Bible Fellowship in Burch Hall, 18644 Sherman Way, Reseda, CA, 91335.
In lieu of flowers, we encourage you to make a donation in honor of Patti to the American Diabetes Association, 2451 Crystal Drive #900, Arlington, VA, 22202 or to any organization that supports cat adoption like the Humane Society or your local shelter.
