Petar Djukic, 80, was born in Yugoslavia on February 15, 1933 and passed away surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, March 3, 2013. For more than 40 years, Petar was employed as a Volkswagen Repair Specialist. As the owner of Petar's Foreign Car Service in Hawthorne, he took great pride in his profession and received much recognition for his leadership and good work, often referred to as a fine craftsman. Petar felt privileged to be an American citizen, as he was able to experience religious and political freedom and fulfill his dream of success, while providing a good life for his family.
A Viewing will be held on Saturday, March 9, 2013 at 12 noon at St. Steven's Serbian Orthodox Cathedral in Alhambra, with the Funeral Service beginning at 1:00pm. Interment will follow at the Serbian United Cemetery in East Los Angeles, and then a luncheon in the south hall at St. Steven's Serbian Orthodox Cathedral.
Petar was well-respected by his family, friends and community. He is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Tona Djukic of Hawthorne, his daughters, Zlata (Curt) Rudick of San Clemente, Jelena Helen Djukic of El Segundo and Milica "Milly" Djukic of Redondo Beach.
