Peter Costruba, 70, was born on November 21, 1943 in Ponta Grossa, Brazil and passed away on January 9, 2014 in Upland, Ca.
Mr. Costruba (Pete) was the Owner of Design Shapes in Steel in El Monte, a steel manufacturing business. He operated the company for over 30 years and was proud to have worked with his son, Peter, in that business for the last 18 years.
In has early years, Pete served admirably in the United States National Guard with an Honorable Discharge.
He spoke Spanish, Portuguese and Russian. He was a dedicated son to his parents and cared for his mother, Nathalia (Baba), until she passed at the age of 95.
He was an avid sportsman. Although he enjoyed watching team sports, he loved playing golf, ocean and salmon fishing and boating. He himself had a pilot's license and enjoyed flying his own plane.
He loved music; "good" stand up comedy; dining; and was always looking for new restaurants and good food.
A Visitation Service will be held from 2:30 - 5:00 pm on Sunday, January 19, 2014 in the Risher Montebello Mortuary Chapel. A reception will follow at the Quiet Cannon Restaurant in Montebello from 5:30-7:30pm.
Pete was a caring husband and father and will be missed by his family: wife Linda Costruba of Pico Rivera, Ca., daughter Tamara C. (Jeffrey) Bogert of Santa Monica, Ca., and son Peter Costruba (Audrey) II of Rancho Cucamonga, Ca.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made to The Wounded Warrior Project, www.woundedwarriorproject.org/donate .
