Phyllis Barbara Casados

February 26, 1945 — August 30, 2019

Phyllis Barbara Casados Profile Photo
Phyllis was born February 26, 1945 in New York to Sam and Anne Nerenberg. She grew up in Long Island in a loving Jewish family.

As an adult, she moved to California where she met Gil Casados. They were married on May 25, 1985 at St. Bonaventure Catholic Church. Soon after, they made their home in Toronto, Canada where Phyllis continued to reside until 2018. Her final residence was with her cousin Jack in Schenectady, New York where she was loved and cared for and took her final breath on August 30, 2019.

Phyllis was very much involved in her church groups, including Legion of Mary where she was president of her local chapter. She was devoted to God on a profound level. She attended Mass every day without fail, even when she traveled. One of her most earnest desires in life was to bring the rich history, tradition, and devotion of the Jewish faith into the spiritual lives of her Catholic brothers and sisters, and vice versa. If we are to learn only one thing from Phyllis, it is to follow her example in her faith.

Phyllis is survived by her brother, Arnold, her children: Tina, Joe, Becca, and Gina, as well as grandchildren: Megan, Levi, Diego, Mia and Lucas, and her great-grandchildren: Noah and Matthew.
