Richard Duane Shaft, 62, was born on December 10, 1954 in Montebello, California and entered into eternal rest on January 13, 2017 in Huntington Beach, California.
Richie was a loving, generous and devoted husband and father. He was equally
committed to his job with the fire department; always striving to do better in everything he did, and he did them well. When he wasn’t working at the fire department, he had a mobile screen business part time, and he enjoyed the craft but especially meeting new friends and
“chatting it up.” A sensitive man but always spoke the truth - ALWAYS. He was respected and loved by his family, friends and co-workers. His sense of humor - unmatched - He made everyone smile and will be INCREDIBLY missed. Richard was a Fire Captain for the Montebello Fire Department for 32 years.
Richard is survived by his loving family: Wife Amy Shaft, Daughter Emily Shaft, Son James Shaft all of Huntington Beach, California. His Brothers Russel Shaft (Sabrina) of Fountain Valley, Robert Shaft (Denise) of Palm Springs & Ronald Shaft of Buena Park. He was the beloved Uncle of Nephews Stephen Shaft, Scott Shaft, Greg Shaft, Jared Shaft, David Shaft, Garrett Shaft and Niece Robin Arvai.
Richie's son James will lead the paddle out on Sunday, February 12, 2017 at 10:00 AM at Huntington Beach, Tower 9 for those who want to participate. The Celebration of Life service will be held in the Shaft home at 1506 Back Bay Circle, Huntington Beach, CA 92648. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the American Cancer Society
