Robert Eugene Fortner, 72, was born on January 19, 1946 in Missouri to Joseph Fortner and Bonnie Guilford and entered into eternal rest on February 9, 2018 in Downey, California.
Robert was a proud veteran and served in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. After the war he relocated to California, where he spent the rest of his life. His passion for Kansas City sports stayed with him though, as he was a huge Chiefs and Royals fan! His love of sports was evident in the numerous years he spent coaching his children’s baseball and softball teams. He also enjoyed watching his grandkids play soccer and softball, fishing and spending time with his family and dogs.
Robert leaves behind his loving family: Wife, Teresa Fortner of Downey, California, Daughter, Denise Wood (Steve) of Long Beach, California, Son, Sean Fortner (Julie) of Fountain Valley, California, Daughter, Kristina Fortner of Fountain Valley, California, Granddaughter, Brooke Wood of Long Beach, California, Grandson, Spencer Wood of Long Beach, California, Granddaughter, Ryan Fortner of Fountain Valley, California, Granddaughter, Randi Fortner of Fountain Valley, California, Father, Joseph Fortner of Missouri, Mother, Bonnie Guilford of Missouri, Sister, Linda Tackett of Missouri, Brother, Dennis Fortner (Elaine) of Missouri, as well as several nieces and nephews and other family members and friends who loved him and will miss him dearly.
