Robert John Miller Jr.

Robert John Miller Jr, also known as “Bobby”, “Bob”, “Coach”, “Bobster”, among many other nicknames, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 21, 2017 at Briarcrest Nursing Home in Bell Gardens, California. He was 62 years old. He was born on May 11, 1954 at Mission Hills Hospital in Huntington Park, California. He was the oldest son of Robert John Miller and Marie Miller. He is survived by his two sisters: Stephanie Miller and Jodie Purnick, and his brother Dominick Miller; his ex-spouse, Connie Cipollone, his kids, Robert John Miller III, Jennifer Ramirez and Luis Soria, and grandkids: Aria, Jacklynn, Joshua, Mieko, James, and Joseph.
Bobby worked for the Downey Unified School District Adult School at Downey High where he conducted boot camp style classes. His style was undeniably unique. He achieved enormous popularity among his adult students, staff, administrators, and sports student teams which he trained during season and off-season. He was very much loved, respected, and admired for his strong commitment and passion for the well- being of his students to pursue and achieve professional as well as personal goals. He also worked for the YMCA in Downey and spearheaded innovative fitness programs. Bobby was an avid Tetris player, PlayStation video game enthusiast, and enjoyed going to the movies and the theatre. He also enjoyed participating in outdoor activities that were fitness related with many of his friends.
A viewing is scheduled on Friday, March 31, 2017 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the Chapel at First Baptist Church of Downey, located at 8333 2nd Street, Downey, CA 90241. A Funeral Service is scheduled for Saturday, April 1, 2017 in the Sanctuary at First Baptist Church of Downey at 3:00 p.m. All are welcomed to attend and celebrate Bobby’s life with family and friends.
