Robert Leroy Nickell, age 78, was born in Browning, Missouri on August 7, 1936 and entered into eternal rest in Pomona, California on December 7, 2014.
Bob is survived by his loving wife Marie DePaemelaere Nickell of Montclair, California and his 3 children; Beverly Pearson of Rancho Cucamonga, Bob Nickell of Azusa and Lorraine Wild of West Covina California as well as 7 Grandchildren and 5 Great Grandchildren.
Additionally sharing in grief are Bob’s siblings, Joyce Rulon of Midwest City, Oklahoma, Joe Nickell of Spicewood,Texas, Roger Nickell of Shawnee, Kansas and Mary Beth Day of Kansas City, Missouri and nine nieces and nephews.
Bob has joined his departed father and mother, Reba and Robert “Earl” Nickell formerly of Browning, Missouri and nephew Kent Rulon of New York City.
At 18 years of age Bob joined the United States Marine Corp and was stationed at Camp Pendleton in California where he attained the rank of Corporal. He then worked 22 years for United Parcel Service and later became an Owner/Operator Trucker for Keystone Trucking. Bob owned the Nickell family farm near Browning Missouri which he worked after retirement and continued to manage and farm. After moving back to California he became an avid Treasure Hunter and was regularly out Metal Detecting whenever he wasn’t involved in one of his many projects – Gardening, Home Improvement, Mechanics, Fixing Things or out visiting and making new friends. Bob also enjoyed working at the Irwindale Speedway for the Saturday Night Races and travelling.
We will be Celebrating Bob’s Life on Saturday, December 27, 2014 at Risher Mortuary Chapel in Montebello, California at 12:00 noon. An additional Memorial will be scheduled in Bob’s hometown of Browning, Missouri early in the Spring of 2015.
