Robert Eugene Schmidt

Robert Eugene Schmidt was born to Robert and Vera Schmidt on February 24, 1932 in Dupo, Illinois and entered into eternal rest on October 4, 2016 at his home in Alhambra, California. He was 84 years old. Robert was a proud US Navy Veteran and was given an Honorable Discharge.
Robert Schmidt was a beloved father and grandpa. He moved to Los Angeles at the age of 6 from Dupo Illinois. He graduated from Bell High School in 1950 and joined the United States Navy during the Korean War, earning two medals. He became a professional photographer and he was involved in the Robert Kennedy Campaign in 1968. He was an active skier, becoming a Ski Writer photographer for many Ski themed magazines. As an active traveler, he skied nearly every ski slope in the United States and traveled the world during his retirement. He worked as a photographer for Hughes Aircraft for twenty-five years as well as photographing weddings in his spare time. He also had a three year stint as a school bus driver. He was an active member of the Grindelwald Ski club.
Robert is survived by his four loving children; Melinda Woods of Huntington Beach, Mike (Jeannine) Schmidt of Arcadia, Jeremy (Maria) Schmidt of Cambria and Timothy (Nadine) Schmidt of Duarte. He also leaves behind five grandchildren; Shannon (Pati) Cunningham of Buena Park, Melissa Cunningham of Huntington Beach, John Schmidt of Carmel, Jill Schmidt of Hiram, Ohio, Mikey Schmidt of Arcadia and his great granddaughter Kiley Cunningham of Huntington Beach.
