"Today we remember my dad, Rogelio Estrella, the loving father of three: Roy Estrella Jr, Anthony Estrella, and Diana Estrella. If you were to ask me who my dad was, he was a hard worker and great man who loved his kids. I can tell you this about my dad, he was proud of his kids. When you talk about my dad, he was a person that said what was on his mind and stood by it. He liked to listen to music and drink his beer. Anyone who knows my dad knew he would love to sing songs or dance to them. He smile and laugh would light up a room. If it wasnt that, then he was probably saying something that was offending someone for not listening to him. He was stubborn at times but also able to come back and give in for what he didn't want to do, even if it was turning down music for the neighbors. He gave me the best thing that I will always cherish - his name. For that, I will forever carry it with honor and pride. This is a poem for my dad that I wrote:
"Dad, you feed me, you bathe me, you hugged me, you yelled at me, and
you gave me love,
Dad, I bathe you, I hugged you, I yelled at you, I feed you, and yelled at you too,
Dad, I fought for you like you did for me,
Dad, I will always remember the laughs and cries.
Dad, I remember when you use to put us to sleep.
Dad, I will always remember I put you to sleep on your last night with me.
Dad, I will not cry, I will not be mad that you're not here, Dad, like I always said, I will never leave your side. I am here if need me again, when we meet again, I want you to hug, kiss, and put me to sleep like I did for you.
Dad, I love you and always will. There is no other man in this world I would want to stand by my side when its my time to go but you dad, as you were not afraid of the Lord Jesus himself.
