Rosemarie Cano 74, born to Jose Ruiz Quinonez and Eva Mota Quinonez on March,4th 1950, entered into eternal rest on January 26, 2025, in Alhambra California.

Rosemarie worked in various roles during her career, the most significant was Working for Plaza De La Raza Cultural Center from 1994 to 2011, where she served as Executive Director. Many would agree that she left a an indelible mark on the organization. Under her leadership, Plaza De La Raza became a vibrant and creative venue that former Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa called '" a gem" of Los Angeles. During her 30 years as a dedicated staff member Rosemarie collaborated with countless artists and performers, she had a keen eye for talent and she played an instrumental role in launching the early careers of artists such as Los Lobos. She mentored many and earned profound respect for her contributions to Latino arts and culture that resonated throughout the state. During her tenure, she helped facilitate the first exhibition of Frida Kahlo's work in Southern California, she produced the Nuevo LA Chicano arts competition, and spearheaded the center's Con Sabor Latino series.

Rosemarie also established a thriving youth Mariachi program and was the driving force of the Latino Art's Network of cultural centers across the state including Hecho en Califas, an unprecedented statewide exhibition of Chicano Art. She significantly stabilized Plaza De La Raza operations and as a result, she helped shape the center into the cultural treasure it is today and longest running multidisciplinary Latino center in the country. Rosemarie had a tremendous passion for music and the arts and it showed in her work.

Rosemarie will be forever remembered as a loving daughter, sister and treasured friend. Rosemarie had a passion to help bring out the best in people and also educate and share the beauty of her Latino Culture.
Job well done. Thank you for all your love and dedication.
Rosemarie, your angel wings were ready, our hearts were not. Rest in peace.

Rosemarie is survived by her loving family; her brothers, Joseph, David, Jesus and Richard, as well as nephews, nieces, Godchildren and great nieces and great nephews and many other family and friends.
Rosemarie was greeted at heavens gate by her loving parents, Jose and Eva who welcomed her home.
