John 11: 25 Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live. 26 And whoever lives and believes in Me shall never die. Do you believe this?”
In memory of Ruben Gonzales Sr August 1, 1942- July 23, 2014.
On Wednesday July 23, 2014 at 1:05 am Ruben Gonzales Sr was taken into the loving arms of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Ruben was surrounded by his family all the way up until the Lord opened the door for him to enter into eternity. It was in the early morning hours that God in His grace extended Ruben’s life eight years in which he battled heart disease to which he finally succumbed to on the morning of July 23, 2014. God in His mercy allowed Ruben to simply fall into a sleep as his heart slowly stopped beating, closing his eyes in this life and opening them to the smiling face our Lord.
Ruben went home ten days shy of his seventy second birthday; he was born on August 1, 1942 in the small town of Clifton Arizona. His Memorial Service will be on his birthday, August 1, 2014. Ruben was one of five children born to Stephanie Gonzales. Ruben was raised by his grandfather and grandmother Gregorio and Emilia Gonzales. Ruben wedded his teenage sweetheart Victoria Lopes Sosa at the age of nineteen and through all the good times and bad times they remained married for fifty-four years. Ruben was a hard worker who provided for the needs of his family.
Ruben loved spending time talking and laughing with his family and all who dared to converse with him. At times, a conversation with Ruben was like playing a game of chess, an arena in which he mastered. Ruben also loved to cook and discover new recipes to try out on all who would stop by his home. Ruben was the Patriarch of the Gonzales family who made sure he stayed in contact with all the family even those who became distant. Ruben had a heart for anyone in need and he made his home and the little that he had available to those who had less or nothing. There are many who were not biological family members yet in their hearts they know that Ruben loved them as if they were his own family. Ruben always seen the best in his family and was proud of every accomplishment they achieved. Ruben was quick to encourage everyone to see that God wanted even greater things for their lives.
Ruben loved his wife, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He left his legacy, in the hearts of all who loved him. Ruben is survived by his wife Victoria, his five children Regina, Ruben Jr, Hector, Diana, Ernie, his sixteen grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren. We will miss his words of encouragement, his jokes, his joy and most of all his great love for all of us.
