Rudolph “Rudy” John Cota Sr. was born in Los Angeles, California on February 21, 1920 and passed away at his residence in Rosemead, Ca. on December 20, 2014. He was surrounded by his loving family. Mr. Cota previously worked as a beautician for 50 years in downtown Los Angeles.
Mr. Cota enjoyed coaching his sons’ and their friends in wrestling and boxing. He loved his golfing, horse racing. He loved to watch the Los Angeles Dodgers and Notre Dame Football. He enjoyed singing and acting as a comedian whenever his family was around. He also loved to cook and to dress up as “Santa Claus” for his grandchildren. He also enjoyed the game of billiards.
Rudy was preceded by his wife, Verna L. Cota (d.2013) and his son Johnny Cota (d.1957) and is survived by his daughter Suzanne M. Cota of Rancho Cucamonga, his son Rudolph J. Cota Jr. (Melissa Cota) of New Mexico and his step daughter Jean L. Ward of Rosemead. He also leaves behind six grandchildren; Gina Cota Garduno, Bridgette Garduno, Daniel Garduno, Erik Garduno, Chantel Cota and Rudy Cota; and eight great-grandchildren; Sister in law Irene Cota, nieces, Irene Udo and Betty Ann Collins and nephew Richard Cota.
