Sabina Ramirez Obledo was born to Mauricio Ramirez and Valeria Gil on May 20, 1929 in San Fernando, California and entered into eternal rest, surrounded by her loving family on June 7, 2015 at her home in Fontana, California. She was 86 years old.
"Ms. Obledo was an avid gardener, catering to hundreds of plants, trees, and exotic flowers. Her knowledge was so extensive; it was her who often enlightened hired landscapers. She was most content in her kitchen with company to feed and was in fact a first place winner in a salsa competition held by Mimi’s Café, where her recipe was then featured on their nationwide menu. An individual who would go without just to help provide for those closest in her heart, she was beloved by all. In addition to her God given green thumb Sabina was a professionally trained baker and enjoyed preparing elaborate desserts of all kinds. She most well known for her perfect award winning pie crust. She also enjoyed dining out and frequented restaurants and eateries with her granddaughter. Second to her family was her beloved Yorkshire terrier, Bonita, who in fact once saved her life by sounding alarm to a fire and gas leak in the kitchen during the middle of the night. In the last 5 years of her life she was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s Disease, and was cared for in home by her kindred spirit and granddaughter Veronica Carpenter, along with daughter Silvia Carpenter and youngest granddaughter Christina Carpenter. Though her struggles were great, her life spent in service to others allowed for such a degree of love by her family that they dedicated themselves to keeping her in her own home, allowing no sacrifice too large to interfere with the completion of her final wish, to pass to the Lord in her own home with her family. As merciless as is the disease of Alzheimer's, it never cut from her the flower of love that she held in her heart for her family. Her final words were that of gratitude before passing to the celestial father in their very arms. She never ceased to seek the Lord and it is now his eternal garden of spring to which she will tend."
Sabina is survived by her daughter Silvia (Curtis) Carpenter of Fontana, daughter Olga Talamantez of Whittier, son Daniel (Diane) Obledo of San Antonio, and grandchildren: Veronica Carpenter of Fontana, Christina Carpenter of Rancho Cucamonga, Joey Obledo of Moreno Valley, Monica Calcanas of Whittier, Rosalie Schotel of La Habra as well as 8 great grandchildren. She also leaves behind her sister Eva Salazar of Montebello and her brother Rafael Ramirez of Los Angeles. Sabina was greeted at Heaven's Gate by her brother Louis Ramirez who preceded her in death.
