Sandra Steward-Hansen, 54, was a long time resident of Southern California, was born on October 25, 1953 in Chicago, Illinois and passed away on January 5, 2008 in Verdugo Hills, California.
Sandra was a very dedicated teacher at Lynwood Middle School. She worked hard to make sure the students have a true appreciation for their academic and social achievements. She was also a teacher for the Gifted and Talented Educated students. She was the sponsor of the Multi-Media Club. Sandra also coached the award winning Academic Pentathlon Teams and was instrumental in the school receiving many medals, plaques and books in Orange County competitions. During her time at Lynwood Middle School she was also student Council Advisor and a TOSA (Teacher on Special Assignment). In the school year 2005-2006, Mrs. Steward-Hansen was named Los Angeles County teacher of the year for Lynwood Unified School District. Lynwood Middle School was truly lucky to have had her as a teacher on their campus.
Sandra is survived by her loving family, husband, Thomas Hansen of Rosemead, California, son, Anthony Hansen of El Monte, California, mother, Elzadia Steward of Chicago, Illinios, and sisters, Rochelle O'Neal and Sheila (Mark) Bass, nephews, Aaron Bass, Matthew O'Neal, Gregory O'Neal, and niece, Leah Bass. She is preceded in death by her father, Edmund Steward in 2007.
Graveside Services will be held at Rose Hills Memorial Park in Whittier, CA on Tuesday, January 29, 2008 at 12:00 P.M.
