Silvia Delgado Profile Photo
Silvia Delgado was born to Rachel and Ruben Galindo on June 3, 1953 in Oxnard, California and entered into eternal rest on April 15, 2016 in Montebello, California. She was 62 years old. Previously, Silvia worked as a Care Worker for 22 years.

Silvia is survived by her husband Reyes Cabrera of Montebello, California and her four children; son Gilbert (Lisa) Delgado of Placentia, daughter Marcy Delgado Uribe of Murrieta, son Christopher Rey Cabrera of Montebello and son Marcus James Cabrera of Montebello. She also leaves behind 9 grandchildren, 1 great grandson as well as her father, Ruben Galindo of Hesperia and five siblings; Petra Galindo of Pasadena, Ruben Galindo Jr of Glendora, Rudy Galindo of Baldwin Park, Raquel Juarez of Hesperia and Gina Munoz of Hesperia along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Silvia was loved by so many people, not just her family members. She was very close to Reyes’ family, including his sisters Gloria and Stella, aunt Barbara, cousin Linda, and cousin Mary. Everyone who got to know her became a part of her life. To the least of acquaintances, Silvia’s presence was always felt through her smile and go get’m attitude.

During the last several months, she fought a courageous fight for her life , spending most of it in the hospital. Marcus was ever-present at the hospitals and rehab hospitals with her, helping “mommy” as best he could.
It was during this difficult time that our entire family saw just how strong Silvia was…and how devoted her husband, Reyes was to her, his “honey bunny” and the love of his life.

A couple of days before her death, one of her last gestures to our dad, Ruben Galindo, was a hug when she could barely move her arms…as if to hug all of us, Reyes, her children and her sisters and brothers who were all there. She showed her love to all of us in her family…and there’s a lot of us! That’s a lot of love!

Friendly and thoughtful, Silvia was a lady, private, yet opinionated, beaming smile, hair and make up, always impeccable. And she always made sure to let anyone close to her know if their hair and make-up needed her expert opinion…and “touch”. Even though she was a no-nonsense mom, she had a fun streak in her. She loved the beach, enjoying the sun and breezes when she could…and dancing.
Silvia graduated from San Gabriel Mission High School, class of 1971 and was proud of our Alma Mater. She was a most thoughtful woman, sending cards, giving gifts, no matter how small, that were always the right gift for each person she gave it to. Even when she was quite ill before last Christmas , she made sure she sent just the right gifts for each of her grandchildren, in case she might not see them on Christmas.

Silvia was a wonderful, caring mother to all her children, especially to her youngest son, Marcus, to whom she devoted the last 26 years of her life because of his special needs.

Silvia was a lady like our mother, Rachel Galindo, and our grandmother, Lola Ordonez, to the very end of her life. Athough we did not want Silvia to leave us, she did not leave until she was good and ready and at peace.

She was surrounded at the time of her death, by her husband, Reyes, her three sons, Gil, Chris and Marcus, her daughter, Marcy, her granddaughter Maya and our youngest sister, Gina.
The lady, the daughter, the wife, the mother, the sister, the grandmother, the aunt, the friend knew when to leave. Silvia was cherished by Reyes, her husband.
Silvia was my sister…and I loved her! -Petra “Pegi” Galindo
