Socorro Castillo Diaz

Socorro Diaz, 79, was born on December 5, 1928 in Mexico and passed away on April 16, 2008 in El Paso, Texas.
Socorro resided in Whittier, California for seventeen years before moving to Chino Hills, California in 1987. In 1998, she headed to the great state of Texas, where she has lived in the city of El Paso close to her son, Larry. For over twenty-five years she was a Sous Chef (second in command in the kitchen). A few of her favorite activities were walking, music and caring for animals especially her own pets. Having a green thumb, Socorro was a natural in her garden. She truly loved her grandchildren and enjoyed being with her family and friends. She will be deeply missed by all those who knew her.
Socorro is survived by her loving family, sons, Alfred and Gloria Diaz of Pomona, California, Larry and Kim Diaz of El Paso, Texas, daughter, Yolanda Caceres of Sylmar, California, brother, Salvador Garcia of Cudahy, California and three grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her loving husband.
Visitation and funeral mass will be held on Tuesday, April 22, 2008 at Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Catholic Church, 820 N Garfield Ave., Montebello, CA 90640 (323) 725-7578.
The visitation will be from 9:30 am to 11:00 am and the funeral mass will begin at 11:00 am. Interment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery, Montebello, California.
