Steven Andrew Ross
January 22, 1960 — January 14, 2025
Steven Ross, of Long Beach, California, beloved by family and friends, passed away on January 14, 2025. Born in Frankfurt, Germany, on January 22, 1960, he was the third son of a US Army family. His childhood was marked by travel as his family moved frequently, finally settling in Wahiawa, Hawaii, in 1972.
After graduating from Leilehua High School in 1978, Steven enlisted in the US Navy as a member of the All-Hawaii unit. His unit graduated from basic training with top honors. He served honorably aboard the USS Enterprise and the USS Antrim, as well as at various shore duty stations. After a decade of dedicated service, he transitioned to civilian life, embarking on a 30 year career as a software engineer at MagTek, Inc., in Seal Beach, California.
Steven cherished his family and friends, finding joy in simple pleasures. He enjoyed cruising, visiting Disneyland, playing computer games with his nephew, Jerel, and spending quality time with his mother and other loved ones.
Steven is survived by his mother, Anne Ross of Montebello; brothers David Ross (Cathy) of Castro Valley, California, Robert Ross (Gerri) of Sumner, Washington, Matthew Ross (Kathleen) of Queen Creek, Arizona; sister, Cindy Urbat (Kurt) of Worley, Idaho; and nieces and nephews Laura Walker, Angie Hight, Ashley Olsen, Jerel Hight, and Robert Kasper. He was preceded in death by his father, Ronny Ross.
