Sylvester Louis Denton, 91, was born in Rochester, NY to Nino and Filomena Dentino on January 11, 1922 and passed away on April 1, 2013 of Pulmonary Fibrosis. He was their fourth child and ventured out into the world at an early age. His devoted wife, Margaret and children, Diane, Debra and Lisa always came first with him.
Syl served his country in the United States Air Force during WWII and was decorated with three medals. He will be given Military Honors at the conclusion of the church Mass. He was a real estate broker for over 60 years and received the California Association Realtors Honorary Member for Life award. He was proud to be the President and on the Board of Trustees of the Beverly Hospital Foundation.
Syl was an active man and enjoyed golf, swimming, dancing, traveling , tennis, cards and puzzles. Syl and Margaret traveled to over 20 countries and enjoyed meeting new people. He was head usher at Miraculous Medal Parish and an usher at St. Bruno Catholic Church. His greatest joy in life was his family, especially his seven grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 4, 2013 from 5-9:00pm in the Risher Montebello Mortuary Chapel and Reception Center. A Catholic Vigil will be held at 7:00pm in the Chapel, the time is pending. The Funeral Mass will be on Friday, April 5, 2013 at 10:00am at St. Bruno Church, 15740 Citrustree Rd., Whittier, Ca. A Graveside service will be held on Friday at 3:30pm at Rose Hills Memorial Park.
Syl is survived by his loving wife, Margaret D. Denton of Whittier, Ca., his daughters, Diane (Steve) Malcoun of Stockton, Ca., Debra (George) Stephan of Encino, Ca. and Lisa (William) Barkett of La Jolla, Ca. He also leaves 7 grandchildren.
