Sylvia Lorraine Ramos, born Sylvia Lorraine Nava, surrounded by her family and friends, has departed her earthly life on June 2, 2023, due to complications with cancer at the age of 69.
Sylvia was born on April 4, 1954, to Primo and Gloria Nava and is survived by her brother Rene, her three children, Michael, Steven, and Gregory, and her husband Michael Bran.
Sylvia was one of the most kind and loving people you could ever meet. Not only was she the sort of person who would take the shirt off her back for you, but she would also invite you in, bring you some food, and ensure your wellbeing before sending you off. She always had time for you and no matter what was going on in her life, she would reach out and make sure that you knew that you were loved and that she was thinking about you.
Sylvia was most joyful when she was with friends, family, and God. A devout Christian, she dedicated herself to her beliefs and to her church and was an example of what it is to be a loving and compassionate Christian. With her kids and grandchildren is where many of us got to see her at her brightest; this is where she would inject love in their hearts with the biggest smile and hug she could greet them with, and make sure they knew they were at home with her. These open arms extended even further, whereas, while raising her three boys, she would welcome their friends with open-doors, and “no-knock” access to the home she had made. She was happiest when those around her were happy.
Sylvia was an amazing mother who was unwaveringly the biggest cheerleader for each of her three boys and invested herself in each of their unique interests. Their accomplishments were her own, and their hardships were her burden with which she wouldn’t hesitate to be caring and supportive.
Sylvia was a beautiful woman and a beautiful soul, a dedicated Christian, and a devoted mother who has changed the lives of those of us fortunate enough to get to know her. We will undoubtedly grieve for what is lost, but we will also rejoice at what is gained as she takes her place with God.
