Therese J. Trudeau Fournier Risher
February 23,1926~December 17, 2011
Therese Jean Trudeau was born on a farm in Red Lake Falls County, Minnesota. She was the youngest of four children born to Albert and Victoria Trudeau. Her siblings, Martha and Rosaire, had preceded her in death. Her elder sister, Lorraine LaBonte, still resides in Grafton, North Dakota. Hailing from a French Canadian background, the family spoke French at home. Her father, Albert died from tuberculosis in 1929 when Therese was only 3 years old. Her mother remarried two years later, in 1931, to Joseph Arel. Thereafter the family moved to the small village of Gentilly in Polk County.
Therese attended St. Joseph's Academy, an all-girl's school, in Crookston. She graduated from high school in June of 1944 and married Ray Fournier on October 30th of that same year. Soon after, the couple moved to Los Angeles, California and Ray started a private bookkeeping and insurance business located on Main Street. Therese would always help him with the business during tax season. Five children were born to them: Gary Fournier, Mary Kay Adelman, Larry Fournier, Patrice Fournier, and Terence Fournier. The latter two preceded her in death. Her husband, Ray, also passed away in 1969.
In 1974, Therese married Cliff Risher and added five more children to their household: Sandy Brannon, Tonia Herr, Tracy Jacobs, Leslie Gray, and Cliff Risher, Jr. To date, this blended family added 20 grandchildren and 35 great grandchildren to the family tree.
Therese and Cliff eventually moved to Lake Elsinore, California. Once the children were raised and Cliff retired from the Los Angeles Police Force, they enjoyed traveling in their motor home, hunting, fishing, playing cards and visiting with family and friends. Both Cliff and his son died in 2008.
Funeral services for Therese will be held on December 28 at 11:30 am in the Risen Christ Chapel at Holy Cross Cemetery, 5835 W. Slauson Avenue in Culver City, California. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of your choice in her memory.
