Thomas Martinez Chavez, 96, was born in Clifton, Arizona December 13, 1917, and entered into eternal rest June 28, 2014. He was truly one of a kind. The love he had for his family was larger than life and he meant the world to those who loved him.
Thomas proudly served our country in World War II. His stories of his Navy days will forever be embedded in the minds and in the hearts of his loved ones.
He was a father of 4 children. 3 daughters- Aurora "Cookie" Samiano, Vivian "BiBi" Salazar, and Linda "Suzi" Womeldorff. His son- Tommy Jr. along with his beautiful wife, Esther, took him by the hands and lovingly greeted him into heaven.
Thomas was a hard working man. An amazing carpenter for all of his life. His imprint is a part of Los Angeles history, proudly serving the position of Superintendent during the construction of the Fabulous Forum, and the Cinerama Dome, along with many other iconic landmarks.
He always said that the love of his family is what kept him alive so long. He took great pride in his children and grandchildren and loved deeply. He could sit and talk for hours about what brought him happiness, and that was his little family. If his family was okay, then he was okay. We can't forget his Reese's Peanut Butter Cups...those made him happy too!
Thomas was a fighter, and never failed to prove that...even until his very last breath. That is something his family with always carry with them-his strength.
Thomas Chavez gently passed away Saturday, June 28, 2014 at 96 1/2 years old. In the comfort of his home, surrounded by his daughter Linda, Granddaughter Lynnal, and Grandson Robert. Along with their spouses; Dave, Richard, Nancy and great grandson, Adam Thomas.
His love, his legacy, and his strength will live within us for eternity.
Tommy and Esther...together again.
